I am beyond thrilled about our new video project! The Seattle Central Foundation<\/a>, which grants $500,000 in scholarships annually to students, pitched a video-based promotion project to\u00a0our New Media class. The\u00a0very best will be chosen to display at an auction at the beginning of May.<\/div>\n

The project:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The theme of the auction is\u00a0the Power of Education and focuses on 1st generation students who are ‘trailblazers’ for their families and positively impact the trajectory of future generations.\u00a0We want to highlight how Seattle Central allows students to be heard and provides them with the support and resources to follow their passion.<\/div>\n

This is an excerpt from their proposal:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

#LOVETHEHILL is an interactive art project to be installed in a storefront on Broadway between the streets of Pike and Pine. The purpose of the installation is to examine the evolution of Capitol Hill over the last 30 years and to document the impact of increased development and gentrification on the quality of life in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

We would like to promote a public discussion that balances the positive attachment people have for the hill with their concerns about changes. The project will include statistical analysis as well as anecdotal elements. It will engage the attention and involvement of the community with the graphic transformation of the building and through the assembling of data which will be collected from a wide variety of sources, including prominent and ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Our main focus:<\/strong><\/p>\n

To\u00a0highlight how we can use art and the power of education to better the environment we live in, as well as address the community’s imminent issues in a positive way. This project hopes to inspire, spark conversation, as well as to\u00a0be a beautiful installation.<\/p>\n

We hope this video will not only generate more money at the auction, but also potentially start an annual sponsorship program to fund more projects like #LOVETHEHILL.<\/p>\n
