My husband and I have been talking about starting our own business for quite some time. Curtis Chevalier (my husband) fishes commercially in Bristol Bay, Alaska every summer and has been for the last decade. He runs the St. Elmo, a legacy passed down to him from his Grandfather, Elmer William Chevalier, that has been providing for the family since the early 1970s when the boat was built in Bellingham, Washington and shipped up for less than $15,000. Today, it is hard to find a traditional wooden boat up in Bristol Bay, as over the years it has evolved into a Billionaires summer time hobby.

Because of the nature of the profit driven industry, fisherman are at the mercy of corporate fisheries, who determine the price based on the continuously fluctuating market. This income feels much like a gamble.
We want to take matters into our own hands, cut out the middle man, and sell the catch to our friends, family and extended network. So, naturally, a brand must be created.
