Our assignment was to create a fictitious brand, practice saving files to web and making those pesky web banner ads compelling and beautiful. We were to create 4 different dimensions of commonly seen web ads that were in a small file size that loads quickly.
We know there is a market for services to make that party a little more special.
This is a service for your party. Remember a clown was hired for your fifth birthday party? Or that stripper at your besties bachelor party? This is very different. Esther and Ostrich Party Co. offers a trained professional with a dual degree in fashion marketing and zoology. Our clients are wealthy, prone to frivolity, and have seen it all. They want something more. Esther is a fashion-forward animal handler who brings some exotic animals and a amazing experience to your next soiree.
We wanted an Oscar de la Renta look, high fashion style to our ads and a vibrant, animal inspired color palette. Charlotte Chevalier hand-lettered the logo and tagline for that customized exclusive look. We chose a bold neon-red to stand out against the crowd. Our target print publications are high-fashion, like this one “Dazed and Confused” and feature ads from Coach and Marc Jacobs.
Our photography, art directed and shot by Daniel Shapiro. He knew he wanted a lush background, so chose the tropical scene of the Volunteer Park Conservatory. Make-up was inspired by a viral fashion video from I-D because it was edgy and the square tip eye makeup gave it an exotic but distinctive feel. Because of our target audience, he wanted a look of indifference and sophistication.
We felt like a motion graphic was an appropriate to the audience and subject so we created one. The tagline Legal or not came up early in our creative process because we wanted an edgy feel and the attitude of our clientele and it is also unclear about whether live wild animals should be allowed in public spaces.
We thought through all concerns around the service. We will avoid scandal and lawsuits by assuring that the animals are treated well and that they are trained to not soil the carpets at events.
