Holly and I are both go-getters. The first week of the video module we came up with our idea and by the second week we already had a shoot day scheduled with a brewer. It went well, especially since Holly was learning how to film video, while simultaneously having to improvise shots as the process can happen rather suddenly. Apart from a little instability, we have more than enough shots to work with, with quite a few tasteful ones. Our concept is pretty straight forward since the process of making beer and our storyline is fairly linear. Although it is not entirely accurate and doesn’t capture each and every step, we will be able to get our message across.
Holly and I are taking a different approach to the process. Since it’s difficult to meet up during the week because of all of our other projects going on, we decided to each make a rough cut and see what we both came up with. One of the videos will be used to turn in, and the other will be used to hand off to the brewery since they don’t have a video on their website! They were as excited as us during the shoot, which always makes the whole process a lot more fun and easy going.
Our teacher showed us around the program last Friday so the rough cut wasn’t too difficult. I found Adobe Premiere pretty self explanatory, except for a few program crashes before I was able to save anything (that sucked!). I’m excited to see what Holly came up with and how we tackled the same footage in different ways. Then we’ll be able to compile our best ideas into one awesome video! The trouble I am foreseeing is that there are many more shots of the process of beer than we are allowed to use for our final cut. Trimming down to the basics will be a challenge.
