The assignment was to create a dynamic and stable 10×10 piece, as well as choose one of those to derive inspiration from and create an 11×17 poster. On the poster we were to include one color, and a minimum of 2 words.
I had to work through many compositions. Below is an example of the unfinished dynamic piece:
Once I finished my pieces, I decided to use the dynamic piece to draw inspiration from. I created a miniscule window to try and find an intriguing composition:
The one below I found intriguing because of its strong figure ground as well as symmetry. This allowed to create the illusion of depth:
